Our Lady of Velankanni Mata Church, Mardes belongs to the Roman Catholic Diocese of Vasai and is located in the serene village of Mardes–Wagholi. The foundation stone was blessed on 26th February 1995, and the church was consecrated on 1st May 1999. In its early years, it served as a prayer centre where the faithful gathered for devotion, while Holy Mass, weddings, and other sacraments were still celebrated at the mother parish, Holy Cross Church, Nirmal. By 2001, the centre grew into a proper parish church with full authority to conduct services, marking the beginning of a new spiritual home for the local community.
Dedicated to Our Lady of Velankanni Mata, lovingly known as “Mother of Good Health”. The church stands as a beacon of faith, hope, and love. Mother Mary, under the title of Our Lady of Velankanni, is deeply venerated here as a compassionate intercessor and a guiding mother who draws people closer to Jesus Christ.
Faith here is celebrated not only through the Eucharist and parish gatherings but also through special Novenas in honour of Our Lady of Velankanni Mata, where the faithful unite their hearts in prayer and devotion. These moments of collective prayer have become a source of strength and blessing for many.
Church is surrounded by the natural beauty of lush greenery; the parish is blessed with a peaceful ambience. The church community extends across seven vibrant villages, bringing together around 2,000–3,000 faithful residents who gather as one family in Christ.
Our Lady of Velankanni Mata Church is not only a place of worship but also a symbol of unity and belonging, fostering a strong sense of togetherness among parishioners. Along with the main church, a chapel has been built to provide space for quiet personal prayer, allowing the faithful to encounter God in silence and peace.
अवर लेडी ऑफ वेलंकन्नी माता चर्च, मर्देस (वाघोली ) हे वसईच्या रोमन कॅथोलिक बिशपच्या अधिकारातील आहे आणि मर्देस -वाघोली या शांत गावात स्थित आहे. 26 फेब्रुवारी 1995 रोजी पायाभरणी करण्यात आली आणि 1 मे 1999 रोजी चर्चचे अभिषेक करण्यात आले. त्याच्या सुरुवातीच्या वर्षांमध्ये, ते प्रार्थना केंद्र म्हणून काम करत होते, जेथे भक्त भक्तीसाठी एकत्र येत असत, तर पवित्र प्रार्थनासभा, विवाहसोहळा आणि इतर संस्कार अजूनही मदर पॅरिश, होली क्रॉस चर्च, निर्मल येथे साजरे केले जात असत. 2001 पर्यंत, केंद्र सेवा आयोजित करण्याचा पूर्ण अधिकार असलेल्या योग्य पॅरिश चर्चमध्ये वाढले, ज्यामुळे स्थानिक समुदायासाठी नवीन आध्यात्मिक घराची सुरुवात झाली. येथील श्रद्धा केवळ युचरिस्ट आणि पॅरिश मेळाव्यांद्वारेच नव्हे तर अवर लेडी ऑफ वेलंकन्नी मातेच्या सन्मानार्थ विशेष नोवेनाद्वारे देखील साजरी केली जाते, जिथे श्रद्धाळू प्रार्थना आणि भक्तीमध्ये त्यांची अंतःकरणे एकत्र करतात. सामूहिक प्रार्थनेचे हे क्षण अनेकांसाठी शक्ती आणि आशीर्वादाचे स्रोत बनले आहेत.
